More Details
They Half Calabash is ideal for building instruments like the Kora and for use with Mbira.
These dried, hollowed gourds—known as calabash—have long been used across West Africa for everything from musical instruments to household tools and storage.
They play an essential role in the making of instruments such as the Bolon, Donso Ngoni, Kora, Soku, and Djidunun (water drums).
Musicians play them by striking the bowl with hands or sticks, producing a wide range of percussive sounds commonly heard in traditional African music.
