Designed to be accessible, engaging, and adaptable, these sessions are created specifically for aged care settings, supporting connection and wellbeing through rhythm and music.

We tailor each session to suit different mobility levels and sound sensitivities, offering gentle percussion instruments such as shakers and bells. Participation can be as active or relaxed as preferred, with options for both hands-on workshops and performance-style sessions.

These programs are also well suited to aged care community events and intergenerational visits, including grandparents and grandchildren days across New Zealand.

All Abilities

Delivering empowerment and fun to people of all abilities

These inclusive workshops are adaptable to suit a diverse range of participants and group needs across New Zealand.

For more than 18 years, we’ve delivered both standalone sessions and long-term programmes that invite everyone to experience the joy of drumming.

Participants are given their own drum, with extra instruments like shakers and bells available to add variety. Sessions encourage connection and participation at any level, supporting people to engage in their own way and at their own pace.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

Drumming to free the mind, leaving everyone feeling great

teacher training

African drumming offers a powerful, accessible way to support mental wellbeing.

The steady rhythm of the drum can help calm the nervous system, while group participation fosters connection, belonging, and shared experience.

Our workshops create a supportive environment where participants can release tension, feel grounded, and express themselves through rhythm. Research has shown that drumming can reduce stress, support focus, and improve mood, with positive effects that continue after the session.

Youth Services

Inclusive and inspiring sessions

African drumming has a unique ability to break down barriers and engage young people. Even those who are harder to reach often find themselves naturally drawn to the djembe.

These sessions provide a positive outlet for energy, creativity, and self-expression, while building connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Our programs have been delivered in schools, youth organisations, and youth justice settings, creating meaningful and lasting impact.

Interactive Workshops & Live Performances

Workshops & Programmes

A fun, interactive way to bring people together through rhythm, movement, and song. Each session can be tailored to your group, whether that includes drumming, dancing, singing, or a combination of all three.

For deeper impact, our ongoing programmes highlight the well-documented benefits of group drumming.

Research suggests drumming can support focus, emotional regulation, and connection, with positive outcomes for children, young people, and individuals experiencing life challenges. At its core, drumming encourages calm, connection, and enjoyment.

Festival & Community Events

For larger gatherings, we offer short rotating workshops of around 20 minutes, allowing more people to actively participate throughout your event.

These sessions are designed around fun, energy, and shared participation.

We also offer interactive performance formats, where our team performs while inviting the audience to join in with drums and percussion. This flexible approach works well for festivals, community days, school fetes, and high-energy public events across New Zealand.

Council

Our drum and dance sessions create inclusive spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together through rhythm.

These interactive programs can be adapted for both small community gatherings and large-scale public events, encouraging participation and connection.

Rooted in West African musical traditions, the workshops celebrate teamwork, cultural expression, and the shared joy of making music together.

"Everyone just loved Appiah to bits! His fan club has increased by at least 300 and we’re at the head of it. Not only thoroughly professional in response and presentation, but read the audience beautifully. This was a hard gig. because it was very diverse in background and age, but he nailed it. And you’re so right – it was really good fun. Thank you so much for organising."

    Sundowner Community Centre

"The African Drumming was a huge success. Mohamed and Simone were punctual, organised and extremely helpful. The minute the scouts came out of the hall they were drawn to the drums and (without even a word) Mohamed and Simone had them all drumming away in unison – it was brilliant and incredible to watch. Everyone was very impressed. Even the people on the street were poking their heads in to see and feel where the energy was coming from. Thank you very much!"
